Each speaker contains two GLH (Graphite Loaded Homopolymer) 4 1/2-inch (115mm) woofers, and an advanced 1” (25mm) ferrofluid-cooled, damped soft dome tweeter with a powerful neodymium magnet structure. The drivers are mounted in an acoustically inert, heavily-reinforced enclosure made from mineral-filled polypropylene. This is a far more neutral, less “ringy” material than is typically used with conventional outdoor speakers, and it contributes to the AW-424’s amazingly musical sound. Additionally, the woofer-tweeter-woofer arrangement controls the speaker’s dispersion, assuring that its sound is directed at the prime outdoor listening area, instead of being wasted by scattering in all directions. Best of all, the sound is genuine Atlantic—detailed, powerful, and lifelike. The clever, yet simple design of the AW-424’s mounting bracket makes installation in a variety of locations a breeze. The speakers can be mounted vertically or horizontally on exteriors house walls, deck corner posts, or other secure surface. The bracket has multiple holes to facilitate a variety of mounting hardware. The bracket itself allows the speaker to be rotated by more than 220 degrees, for the ultimate in placement flexibility. The speaker cabinet and grille can also be painted to perfectly blend in with their surroundings. |
